Margaret West was born at St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, July 29, 1854, and was 68 years, 3 months and 5 days old at the time of her death. She was married October 6, 1870 to John Hade. To them were born four children: Emma Myrtle, Lizzie, Nancy/Nannie and John, Jr. Two of the children have passed: John Hade, Jr. in 1901 and Mrs. Nannie [Nancy] Sibert in 1911 [1912]. Mr. Hade passed in 1897. Besides her husband, George Niel, the two daughter are Mrs. Myrtle Growcock and and Mrs. Lizzie Grewcock, both of near Elkhorn. She was married to George Niel on November 25, 1899. They have constantly made their home at Waterloo. Mrs. Niel having lived here continuously for forty years. Mrs. Niel was a woman highly esteemed in the community and had many friends. She was baptized into the Christian church of this place and has been a devoted member. Her illness of many years prevented her in taking active part in the interests of the her friends, community and church, which was one of the things she most regretted. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Community Presbyterian church and were in charge by the Rev. P. N. Shedd. The services were attended by a large number who came to pay their last respects to their old friend and neighbor. Interment was at Prospect Hill cemetery.
