Conrad, 87, of New Vienna, and Holy Cross, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Heritage Manor, Dubuque. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, with the Rev. John O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m. She was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in Aberdeen, S.D., daughter of Laurence and Catherine (Schile) Crippes. She married Louis M. Conrad on Nov. 23, 1943, in Holy Cross; he preceded her in death on April 8, 1996. Together they farmed in the New Vienna area until retirement in 1983 when they moved to Holy Cross. She truly appreciated the many friendships she developed there. Margie loved quilting, creating personalized quilts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed being at the river fishing and spending many Sundays at the cabin with her family. Surviving are her children, Bonnie (Willie) Prier, of Dubuque, Karen (Dale "Chuck") Lynch, of Platteville, Wis., and Dave (Susan) Conrad, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Leo Meyer and Wilfred "Butch" (Anna Mae) Vaske, both of Dyersville. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Thomas in 1981 and James in 2000; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Merlin (Betty) Conrad, Virginia Meyer, Alfred (Idell) Conrad and Robert (Eileen) Conrad.
