Description	:	Our beloved mother, Margaret Marie (Terry) Schwarz, passed away on August 4, 2003. She was born in Republic, Washington on September 17, 1922 to Laurance A. Terry and Edna Adelaide (Rowland) Terry. Margaret attended Washington Grade School, Mason Junior High and graduated from Stadium High School in 1939. She also attended the College of Puget Sound for a short time. She studied the piano for ten years during her childhood. Read More	Our beloved mother, Margaret Marie (Terry) Schwarz, passed away on August 4, 2003. She was born in Republic, Washington on September 17, 1922 to Laurance A. Terry and Edna Adelaide (Rowland) Terry. Margaret attended Washington Grade School, Mason Junior High and graduated from Stadium High School in 1939. She also attended the College of Puget Sound for a short time. She studied the piano for ten years during her childhood. While attending Stadium, she accompanied the orchestra, solo orchestra, Boy's and Girl's Clubs, operas and assemblies. She also played the piano for Mason Methodist Church and for the USO Club during World War II. She worked for Monarch Drug Store, Hoyt's Doughnut and Restaurant, Knapp's Restaurant and worked for Safeway Grocery for about ten years. Margaret and her late husband, Milton G. Schwarz, taught Sunday school at Mason Methodist Church. She served on various committees and volunteered for many projects and activities. She was a leader for her son Gary's Cub Scout pack and assisted in many activities in her daughter Karen's Girl Scout troop. Margaret's early ancestor family names were Knickerbocker, Van den Bogart, Freer, Rowland and Dykeman who helped settle New York and Connecticut States in the early 1600's. Also the Terry, Clark and Van Deusen families that settled early in New York and by 1790 were living near Cincinnati, Ohio and the Morgan and Swisher families that founded Morgantown, West Virginia. Her maternal grandparents were Lucy Ann (Hudson) and James Henry Rowland who married in Lowell Township, Kent County, Michigan. They settled in Aberdeen, Washington about 1885 where they were pioneers and homesteaders. In 1909 they moved to Tacoma and were among the first members of Mason Methodist Church. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Terry and Laura Ellen (Adams) Terry. Frank Terry was superintendent of all the Indian tribes in Western Washington from about 1894 to 1905. Both Frank and Laura were teachers in the Puyallup Tribe Industrial School. Frank was responsible for managing and reporting the census of the Washington Indian tribes. They later settled in Roy, Washington where Frank taught school. Prior to coming to Washington State, Frank and Laura Terry lived on the Crow Indian Reservation. Frank was the school superintendent and Laura taught school. Margaret's first priority was her family. She always had funny little songs to sing to her grandchildren that would bring a smile. Her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit was easily complemented with her refined grace. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her so dearly. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and closest friend, Milton G. Schwarz, her brother and sister in law, Robert L. and Erika (Noll) Terry. She leaves behind her sister, Dr. Frances (Terry) Huston and husband Dr. Robert Huston of Greenport, NY, sister Elizabeth "Betty" (Terry) Worrell and husband William Worrell and brother in law Richard (Darla) Schwarz, children Linda Hawley, Marsha Anderson, Dr. Gary Schwarz (Cheryl), Karen Wessel (William), grandchildren Cheryl Webber (Christopher), Terry Cook, Jr., Heidi Schwarz, Rebecca Schwarz, Katie Wheeless, William Wessel, Sarah Wessel, great-grandchildren Daniel Luquette and Shannon Luquette, her special cousin Jessie (Hardie) Upton of Langley, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret also leaves behind her best friend since childhood, Alice Madeline Thomsen of Olympia and countless other friends. There will be a private memorial for family and close friends at a later date. The family suggests memorials to Mason United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Commencement Bay Cremation Plan.
