Vickers 66 "The News-Herald" Hillsboro, Ohio, May 10, 1888, Page 2, Image 2 Mrs. Margaret Vickers Departed this life at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hudson near Winchester on April 19th, in the seventieth year of her age. The subject of this sketch was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris. Born in the year 1818, in the State of Delaware, twenty-five miles from Baltimore, and subsequently moved to Ohio. Married in 1836, at the age of seventeen, in Washington C. H., Fayette County, to Dr. Lorenzo D. Vickers, who was for many years engaged in the active duties of his profession in Hillsboro, Highland County. A few years ago he removed to Solomon City, Kansas, where a son still resides, in which city Dr. Vickers died December, 1886. From this union four children were born, of whom two are deceased, and two are living; James R. Vickers of Solomon City, Kansas, and Mrs. Harriett Hudson, near Winchester, Ohio. Mrs. Vickers united with the M. E. Church in Hillsboro, some thirty-five years ago, and recently removed her membership to the church at Solomon City. She had some visions of the presence of her departed husband during the last twelve months, and at times seemed to join him in spirit gone before. Had longings and desires to go home and be with Christ. On being interrogated as to her readiness to go, she replied: "I am ready; I have tried to do my duty, and to do that which is right." Her preparations being made when the summons came she calmly fell asleep in Jesus, and her soul went home to God who gave it. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Maddox of the M. E. Church and Rev. Park of the Presbyterian Church, Winchester, Ohio, April 21st, 1888. On that home of the soul, in my visions and dreams, It's bright Jasper walls I can see; Till I fancy but thinly the veil intervenes Between the fair city and me. T.S.P.
