Roadhouse had passed away several hours following injuries received when she fell from her horse near the rodeo grounds in north Hoxie. She, in company with other members of the Saddle Club, were participating in drill work which is usually a Sunday afternoon affair. It is assumed her horse became frightened and after several jumps threw the rider. The force of the fall rendered injuries to the rider that proved fatal several hours later. Margaret, as she was familiarly known, was an ardent member of the Saddle Club, and was the happiest when participating in this club's events. Her leadership and willingness to serve in the various civic organizations and clubs made her a leader of state recognition. Her activities in church, Republican affairs and legion Auxiliary were known to almost everyone in the state, as she never seemed too busy to lend a helping hand in these organizations. Services were held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon with student pastor D.K. Parnell in charge. Interment was in the Hoxie cemetery. The large number present and the many beautiful sprays and baskets of flowers were evidence of her esteem in the community. Margaret Mozelle Roadhouse was born in Lincoln, Nebr., on Nov. 27, 1890 and departed this life June 12, 1949. At an early age she moved with her parents to Missouri and from there to Hoxie, where she grew to young womanhood. On Dec. 31, 1920, she was united in marriage to Dr. F.C. Roadhouse and has resided in Hoxie ever since. One daughter, Ruth, preceded her in death. She was the last of a family of six, her father, mother, two sisters, and one brother preceded her in death. She taught several successful terms of school in Sheridan County, was clerk of District Court for two terms, was a tireless worker in the Presbyterian Church and Sunday School, took an active part in the American Legion Auxiliary in both the local unit and the district, having held several offices in the district, one of which was District Director. She was active in the Royal Neighbor order having held the office of Recorder for 20 years, also active in Eastern Star Chapter having passed through the chairs. She was District Committeewoman in the woman's division of the Republican party, also took an active part in the local Republican organization. She was a lover of all outdoor sports, she liked to fish, hunt and horseback ride and was a member of the local Saddle Club, in which she took an active part. She loved her garden and flowers and was a member of the garden club. The annual garden club breakfast was always held in her back yard garden. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Dr. F.C. Roadhouse of the home, two daughters, Erma Holeman, of Wichita; Hazel Garner, of Muncie; and one son, Max Roadhouse of Great Bend; four grandsons, five granddaughters and many other relatives and a host of friends. (Following was a list of out-of-town relatives who attended the funeral.)
