She died at her home in Humboldt, Kansas, at 6 o'clock p.m., Friday, August 19, 1904. On February 11, 1872, she was married to Isaac N. O'Brien, at which time she came to Humboldt, and has made her home in or near here since. All her children were with her at the last. Her son George coming in from Kansas City just in time for her parting words. To see him was her latest wish, and after this she sank quietly and peacefully to rest, being conscious almost until the end. At the age of 19 she united with the M.E. church and continued a member the remainder of her life. She was also a member of the Women's Home Missionary society and of the F.A.A. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. L. S. Jones, from the home on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, and the remains placed beside those of her husband in the family lot at Mount Hope cemetery. As her pastor, I wish to add a few words to the above. The text chosen, "She hath done what she could", was certainly a fitting one for the occassion. Her life, though full of suffering, was one of beauty. A life of strong personality, a never wavering faith in God and a mother's love so strong that her children were drawn to her as by a mighty magnet. Though an invalid for years, her hands were always busy with her fancy work, in which she took delight and which she was very skillful. But those hands which executed so much needlework are cold and still. That voice which has uttered so many cheerful words is hushed. The beautiful life which showed as a star in the home, shedding forth a steady cheerful light, is now dimmed by the mists that arise from the River of Death, but that life still shines on, not only on earth, but in the courts of God.
