Description	:	Mrs. Jacob Bell, Sr., a resident of this community since 1883, died at her home on Sixth avenue Sunday after a brief illness. Mrs. Bell was one of the finest pioneer women of the community and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. With her husband, Jacob H. Bell, a veteran of the Civil war, she came to this community more than half century ago. Read More	Mrs. Jacob Bell, Sr., a resident of this community since 1883, died at her home on Sixth avenue Sunday after a brief illness. Mrs. Bell was one of the finest pioneer women of the community and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. With her husband, Jacob H. Bell, a veteran of the Civil war, she came to this community more than half century ago. They acquired a good farm west of town, reared a family of eight children and were leaders in the life of the community. Mr. Bell died four years ago in April. She has made her home in Coon Rapids since retiring from the farm sixteen years ago. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. J. Arms. Music was by a quartette composed of Mrs. and Mrs. W. A Kretzinger, Mrs. Charles Thomas and Mrs. Fred Textor. Burial was in the Coon Rapids cemetery. The obituary follows: Margaret P. Spickler was born October 15th, 1847, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, and departed this life March 24th, 1935, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 9 days. When a young girl she moved with her parents to Rock Island, Illinois, and on September 2nd, 1868, was united in marriage to Jacob H. Bell and moved to Falls City, Nebraska, where they lived for three years. After meeting with reverses caused by drouth and grasshoppers they moved to Gilman, Iowa, where the children were born. In 1883 they moved to their farm three miles west of Coon Rapids where they lived for thirty years. Sixteen years ago they retired from the farm and with the exceptions of a few months spent in Stuart they have made their home in Coon Rapids. Mr. Bell preceded her in death four years ago in April. She is survived by eight children, John S., Henry G., Mrs. Maud Maybay and Ray W., all of Coon Rapids; Ethel Tuel of Manson; Loren T. of Maravia, New York; Jacob Benton of Rosendale, Wis., and Albert G. of Waupon, Wis.
