Margaretha Sophie Boe born December 10, 1872, in Strukkamp, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Hinrich and Margaretha (Heldt) Boe. She immigrated to the United States with her family to a farm in Jackson County, Iowa, in 1880. The family moved to a farm in Yankton County, South Dakota, in 1881. She remained on the family farm her entire life and later with just her sister, Gertrude Boe and brother, George Boe, until they retired and the three moved into a house together in Yankton. She used the name Margaret during her lifetime. She never married. Surviving are one brother, George Boe of Yankton; one sister, Gertrude Boe of Yankton; four nieces, Flora Utke, Alma Roach, Anna Hewer and Lulu Geraldson; one sister-in-law, Mary Boe of Yankton; and three nephews, Harry Boe, Arthur Kaufman and Peter Kaufman. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Peter, Jurgen, Carl and Ferdinand Boe and one sister, Maria Kaufmann. Yankton Press & Dakotan, Aug 4, 1947, page 1
