On July 21, 1934, Margaret was united in marriage with Leonard Dale Hofer in Toledo, Iowa. Margaret dedicated her life to her husband and family. On July 21, 1934, Margaret was united in marriage with Leonard Dale Hofer in Toledo, Iowa. Margaret dedicated her life to her husband and family. She assisted Leonard in his custodial duties at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company and several area public schools. Margaret loved her family. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dog field trial races and coon hound water races. Margaret died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa. She was 87 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, on October 13, 1998; her son, Larry; her daughter, Darlene Routier; two sons-in-law, Richard Burgett and Larry Sheets; one grandson, Kenny; four great grandchildren in infancy; her brother, Donald Davis; and her sister, Thelma Eck. Those left to honor Margaret's memory include her daughters, Janet Sheets of Grinnell, Iowa, Gladys and Gary Schrage of Melrose, Iowa, Jessie and Hank Mefford of Des Moines, Iowa, Jenny Burgett of Des Moines, Iowa; her son, Robert and Vicky Hofer of Des Moines, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hofer of Lynnville, Iowa; a son-in-law, Lawrence Routier of Melrose, Iowa; her eighteen grandchildren; her thirty-two great grandchildren and her seventeen great-great grandchildren. Margaret died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa. She was 87 years old. Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday April 6, 2007, at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour, Iowa.
