While she was young, the family moved to Rapelje, then to Corinth, Mont. There, she attended a one-room school and learned the values of country-style living. One of her favorite ways to spend a summer day was riding the countryside on horseback, eating chokecherries and buffalo berries and taking a swim in Fly Creek. She attended high school in Hardin, and after school each day, she cleaned and cared for the sick and elderly. Margaret met and married Virgil Fuller, and together, they moved to the Huntley Project. During her marriage, she, her dog and her horse spent many summers in the Ingomar-Sumatra area, pasturing and herding their sheep. During this marriage, also, she gave birth to six children: Jesse James, Janet Gay (Frank) Holliday, Virgil Renna Fuller, Delta (Stany) Morales, Sharon Kay Ibach and Dean (Janice) Fuller. When hard times fell, Margaret moved to Billings, where she worked at the Great Western Sugar Beet Factory and the Angle Inn Hamburger Shop. With the help of car trouble, she met her second husband, Leo Joseph Althoff. They married and moved back to the Huntley Project, in the Pompeys Pillar area. From this marriage, the birth of Jerry Joseph (Vicki) Althoff and Mary Jane (Mark) Freitag resulted. Margaret loved the country and could be found mowing and stacking hay, driving beet and corn trucks and tending livestock. She instilled values of hard work, family, friends and the love of God into her children. With the help of Hospice and her family, Margaret's last wish was to join the Lord from her home, which she did on July 31, 2005. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Bonnie Hardy, William Hardy, Helen Garlock, Dan Hardy, Giles Hardy, Inez Vermandel; daughter Sharon Ibach; son Renna Fuller; son-in-law Frank Holliday; grandchildren Jeff and Roger Holliday and Janene and Jodene Fuller. She is survived by her husband Leo; her brother, Gerald (Maureen) Hardy; half-brother Tim Hardy; half-sister Diane Derry; five children, 22 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Margaret, as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, you will truly be missed. Contributions may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th. Interment is at Pleasantview Cemetery in Ballantine, MT. Visitation starts Saturday morning, Aug. 6.
