After a long period of suffering from consumption, death came to the relief of Mrs. Margareth Mullong, wife of Henry Mullong of Remsen township, on Sunday April 18, at the hour of 5 a.m. at the home of her son-in-law Mrs. Albert Schneider, in Le Mars. Mrs. Mullong was born in the city Ettelbruck in the grand duche of Luxemburg, on the 9th day of July, 1854. Her maiden name was Margareth Polfer. In April 1873 she came to America an lived for a short time in New York city, then went to Dubuque, where in 1875 she came the wife of Henry Mullong. The young and happy couple soon concluded to come west and grow up with the country, and their fond hopes were filled. They made for themselves a fine farm home, and with six good children, would have enjoyed comfort and contentment in their old years, had not cruel death thus interfered. Mrs. Mullong was a good wife and mother, and a faithful member of the Catholic church to her last moments. The funeral services and burial were in Le Mars Tuesday morning, and many neighbors and friends of the bereaved family attended. The children, who with Mr. Mullong, mourn the loss of a kind mother, are: Lilly, now Mrs. Albert Schneider of Le Mars; Peter, at Oyens; Elizabeth, now Mrs. Chase of Sioux City; John, of Oyens; Charles, student in medicine, of Sioux City, and Cecilia, Le Mars. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, Friday, April 23, 1909, page 1 Also – Henry Mullong desires that we express here his sincere thanks to all his friends who went to LeMars to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mullong. Mrs. Mullong has been staying with their daughter Mrs. Albert Snyder for some time. Previous to that she was in the St. Josephs hospital at Sioux City where she has been taking treatment for a long time.
