She is now at rest after a life of usefulness and service to her family, her church and her neighbors. She had been ill for some time and was taken to the hospital recently with hopes that she might be spared for many more years of life. Mrs. Mueller was a lady of quiet, kindly manner and a good friend and a true neighbor and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her and whose privilege it was to be numbered among her friends. For a number of years she resided on a farm southwest of Syracuse but after the death of her husband, she came to town and purchased a home where she had since resided. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning from St. Paulinus Catholic church in Syracuse of which she was a faithful and devoted member, and were conducted by Rev. Fr. I.C. Weis and were largely attended by friends of the family and she was laid to rest in Park Hill cemetery beside her husband. Margaret Long was born in Ohio on June 26, 1856. She grew in womanhood in her native state and came with her family to Nebraska in young womanhood. She was married to John Mueller June 26th 1879, at Nebraska City and has since made her home in this county, mostly near or in Syracuse. Her husband departed this life in December, 1922, and shortly afterward she came to Syracuse to reside where she has since made her home. She departed this life at St. Mary's hospital in Nebraska City at noon Saturday, August 8th, 1931, having reached the age of 75 years, one month and 13 days, the cause of her death being heart failure. The end came peacefully as she had lived and sudenly at noon of August 8th she passed away. She is survived by the following children, one son, Edward, dying in infancy; Mr. Mary Davis, San Diego, California; Mrs. Emma Brugman, Omaha; Mrs. John Arnold, Syracuse; Mrs. Leo Kraft, Unadilla; Frank Mueller, Albion, Nebr.; Fred Mueller, Syracuse; one brother, Jacob long of Cotesfield, Nebr.; and fifteen grand children also survive. There are many friends of a lifetime in this community who will recall her useful life and remember her living among us. The pall bearers were selected from among her friends and neighbors and were: Mike Antes, Joe Antes, John Carper, Y.R.Hedges, Joe Wimberger and Fred Kraft. CARD OF THANKS It is with grateful hearts that we take this means of expressing our sincere thanks to our many friends for their kindness, help and willing services in the last hours and burial of our beloved mother, for the flowers sent and for every act of mercy and love so freely given.
