Bio update courtesy of Nancy Fleetwood Miller #46780653 * Richmond Dispatch December 23, 1887 Mrs. Weir, widow of the late John Weir of Rockbridge, died, at an advanced age, on the 19th instant, at her residence, near Rahphine, in that county. Mrs. Weir was the [step] daughter of Thomas Mayberry, who in connection with William Weaver, erected the famed Vesuvius Iron Works, near the line of Augusta and Rockbridge, more than sixty years ago. Her finely cultured accomplishments in early life were conspicuous in her old age. She entertained her visitors in rare fluency in remarkable precision in relating events of the times when her father was prominent in the associations of this section of the Valley and with old iron-masters of Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, from which he and Mr. Weaver Came. Mr. Mayberry also built the Victoria Iron-Works, in Louisa County where he died in 1850. Dr. A.H. Weir, of the medical staff at the Western Lunatic Asylum, is a son, and Mrs. Hugh F.
