She was born February 11, 1937 in North Manchester to Paul D. and Julia (Overholser) Abbott. Margene was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in North Manchester. She married Gerald Jack Lybarger in Rochester, Indiana on July 26, 1997. She worked at Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne, was a receptionist and dental assistant at Dr. McKinley's office, worked 12 years at Peabody Retirement Community, and also baby sat for over 50 children throughout the years. Margene was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church, and an associate member of the Tri Kappa Sorority. She loved drawing, reading classic literature, listening to music, enjoyed art, and was a faithful card sender. She is survived by her husband, Gerald Jack Lybarger of North Manchester; two daughters, Laurel Anne Lybarger of Silver Lake, Indiana, and Shaunn (Jeffrey) Munn of Plymouth, Indiana; two sisters, Jane Ann (Tom) Airgood and Mary Beth (Jon) Perkins, both of North Manchester; brother, Ted Abbott of Weeki Wachee, Florida; five nieces, Beth (Mike) Helton of North Manchester, Laura (Andy) Roth of Cicero, Indiana, Julia (Zachary Nelson) Perkins of St. Paul, Minnesota, Lindsey Abbott of Collierville, Tennessee, and Tanya (Harold) Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana; four nephews, Evan Perkins of Greenwood, Indiana, Kris (Terri) Airgood of Kokomo, Indiana, Tim (Becky) Airgood of Simsbury, Connecticut, and Andy (Kari) Airgood of Claypool, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester on Monday, January 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin DeKoninck officiating. Burial will be in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may call 2-5 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Shrine Hospitals or Manchester United Methodist Church.
