Description	:	Marguerite Peters, daughter of William and Henrietta Nelson Rouse, was born December 18, 1904, on a farm near Abdal in Nuckolls County, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, September 15, 1988, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 27 days. Read More	Marguerite Peters, daughter of William and Henrietta Nelson Rouse, was born December 18, 1904, on a farm near Abdal in Nuckolls County, Nebraska. She departed this life on Thursday, September 15, 1988, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 27 days. When Marguerite was one year old her parents moved to a farm two miles east of Mt. Clare. It was here that Marguerite grew up, attending country schools through the 11th grade, finishing high school education in Nelson, graduating with the class of 1923. After high school, Marguerite taught school a few years in the Nelson and Edgar areas. Marguerite was united in marriage to Orval Scott of Burr Oak, Kansas, and to this union four children were born: Lyndall, La Marr, Dolores and Sharon. The family lived in Kansas and later the Superior vicinity before Orval's death. In 1947, Marguerite and Ralph Peters were married and they added three more children: Mary Lee, Donald and Billy. Marguerite and Ralph have made Edgar their home since their marriage. She was an active member of the Church of the Plains and had taught Sunday School for 36 years, teaching mainly the 5th and 6th grades. She especially enjoyed the singing of her Sunday School children. Marguerite has loved music and dancing all of her life. Besides her church activities Marguerite was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Edgar Ladies Aid and many other community projects. Preceding her in death were her parents, two grandsons and one great grandson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Ralph Peters of Edgar; children, Lyndall Scott of Lincoln, La Marr Scott of Waynesville, Missouri, Dolores Gunn of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Sharon Hauschild of Oakley, Kansas, Donald Peters of Redwood City, California, Mary Niedfelt of Grand Island and Billy Peters of Edgar; a sister Hazel Crook of Englewood, Colorado; two great nieces; one great nephew; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 18, at 2 p.m. from the Church of the Plains in Edgar. The Rev. Stuart Barnes Jamieson officiated. In charge of the arrangements were Urbauer Williams Funeral Home of Edgar. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, October 6, 1988 pg.4.
