| Description | : | Marguerite/Margaret Moes (aka Moos) was the daughter of Franciscus Moes and Catharina Freymann. In 1824 Margaret married Charles Hoffmann in Olm, Luxembourg. They were the parents of four children (who reached adulthood): Charles, Nicholaus, Dominic, and Jane Ann/Johanna. The family emigrated to the USA and Iowa via New Orleans and Saint Louis arriving Iowa in 1846. One published account* mentions that in the Spring of 1846, Charles Hoffmann and Peter Gehlen came upon and joined the J B Noel family, also from Luxembourg, lunching out in the open near Noel's farm located on the western bank of the Mississippi...
