Read More	SOURCE: THE MONTICELLO EXPRESS……NOVEMBER 26, 1914….PAGE 7 DEATH OF MARY WENNEKAMP Mrs. Mary Wennekamp, whose illness was recorded in The Express, last week, she having suffered a stroke of apoplexy at the home of her brother, Henry Dirks, at Longmont, Colorado, died, last Saturday afternoon. Her children, Gerhard Henry Wennekamp and Mrs. Wipke Wennekamp Bennen reached her bedside before the final summons, but she was unable to recognize them. The body was brought to Monticello accompanied by her two children, last Tuesday evening, and taken to the family home in Wayne Township, where the funeral was conducted yesterday afternoon by Rev.C. Mardorf, pastor of the German Lutheran church of Wayne. Mrs. Wennekamp was born in Hanover, Germany and came to the United States in 1880.She settled with her husband in Wayne Township at that time, and lived there until her death. She died at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 23 days. She was married to John Wennekamp in 1876.Mr. Wennekamp died in 1912. Their surviving children are those hereinbefore named. The deceased is also survived by two brothers, Henry Dirks, of Longmont, Colorado and Daniel Dirks of Edgemont, South Dakota, and also one sister, Mrs. Ed Harms, of Onslow. The deceased was a woman of many virtues who found the greatest pleasure of life in attending to the wants of her household and ministering to the husband and children who were the overpowering centers of her affection. She was well known throughout Wayne Township, and had a great many good friends who were pained to know of her death. NOTE: Maria's mother was Maria Antons Dirks who died 11 Mar 1887 in Friedeburg, Germany.
