Her children were gathered about her, with the exception of the two boys who lived at a distance, during the last hours of her earthly life. At the last hour she wanted her life companion, Mr. Hasselbring, near her. Louise Hasselbring, nee Leubbert, was born March 13, 1855, in Stoeckse, Hanover, Germany. In August, 1866, she with her parents left their native land for America landing at New Orleans and continuing their journey to Redbud, Randolph county (sic), Ill. Here on June 1, 1877, she united In holy wedlock with Henry Hasselbring. This union was blessed with twelve children, eight sons and four daughters. Two sons, August, aged twenty-seven years, and John aged seventeen and one daughter Dorathea aged eleven years preceded their mother. In 1883 they left Illinois for Nebraska, settling down In Fillmore county (sic) where they lived a number of years and then bought a farm in Thayer county (sic), near Alexandria. Here they lived until two years ago when they moved to Ohiowa. Mrs. Hasselbring possessed a personality which attracted friends and held them. Her home was always the chief center of her affection. She placed service above self and lived thinking and planning for the welfare and happiness of those she loved. She leaves to mourn her loss her sorrowing husband, six sons, Henry of Eaton, S.D., Fred of Alexandria, William of Ohiowa, Herman of Nampa, Idaho, Louis of Alexandria and Albert of Ohiowa, three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Polage of Alexandria, Mrs. Lena Johnson of Bruning and Miss Louise of Ohiowa, twenty-four grandchildren, three sisters two of which were present at the funeral, one brother and a host of other relatives and friends. She died June 27 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 14 days. A short service was held at the home Friday, June 30, at 2 p.m. Funeral services were held at the South Lutheran church (sic) conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. Klatt in German and Rev. A.F. Stearns of the Methodist church in English. The Lutheran young people's choir had charge of the singing. She was laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery in the presence of many sorrowing friends and amidst a shower of flowers. The out-of-town people in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Metzger of Blusston, Ind., Mrs. Lizzie Baldwin of Superior, Mrs. J.H. Luttich of Hebron, George Kruse of Nelson, Henry Hasselbring of Eaton, S.D., Herman Hasselbring of Nampa, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Luttich of Strang.
