Mrs. Rosendahl died Nov. 20, 1957 at the Creek Nursing Home in Manson, IA, where she had been a patient for a week. She was of German decent. The former Maria Gerdes, she was born Aug. 19, 1867, in Germany to Gerd and Gesche "Cassie" (Broers) Gerdes. The family came to the United States when Mrs. Rosendahl was a child. They located near Eureka, Ill., where she met Mr. Ubbe Rosendahl and married him at the German Lutheran Church there. About 1914 the Rosendahls came to the Knierim area and farmed there until they retired and moved to town. In her later years Maria had lived with her kids, living with her son Martin and family a majority of the time; until she entered the rest home in Manson, IA. Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Barger (Cassie) Wilson and Mrs. Robert (Lena) Tjaden, both of Rockwell City, IA; five sons, Martin of Manson, IA; Adolph of Knierim, IA; Bert of Lehigh; Gerd of Gilmore City, IA; and Andrew of Worthington, MN; also 28 grandshildren and 73 great-grandchildren. Maria joins in Heaven her husband Ubbe in 1938, one son Herman, and infant twins; one sister; and six brothers; and Many Loved Ones. Buried from Trinity Lutheran Church of Knierim, IA; where she had been along time member. She was Baptized into the Christian Faith at the German Lutheran Church in Germany, and Confirmed into the Christian Faith at the German Lutheran Church in IL; I think?
