Gerd Rosendahl, the son of Ubbe and Maria (Gerdes) Rosendahl was born on April 17, 1886 near Eureka, ILL. He was Baptized and Confirmed into the Christian Faith at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Benson, ILL. Gerd was called Home to be with the Lord Jesus on Christmas Eve Thurs. Dec. 24, 1959, at about 6:15 P.M., surrounded by his family. He was united in marriage with Ecke M. Janssen on Jan. 17, 1912 at rural Chatsworth, IL at the farm home of the grooms parents. Witnesses were the groom's siblings, Martin Rosendahl, and Cassie (Rosendahl) Wilson. They were married by Pastor Shermann Koepp? They came to Iowa in 1915 and settled on a farm in Webster County, south of Clare, IA. About a year later they moved to a farm in Center Twp. Calhoun County, north of Rockwell City, IA; here they lived for about 17 years. In the spring of 1931 they moved to a farm north of Gilmore City in Humboldt County, IA. In 1936 the Rosendahl's retired from active farming and moved into town on the east side of Gilmore City, IA. Mr. Rosendahl had been a Sexton and Caretaker of First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City for about 21 years; where he had been a faithful and active member for about 28 yrs. Four brothers: Martin Rosendahl of Manson, IA; Bert Rosendahl of Dayton, IA; Andrew Rosendahl of Worthington, Minn.; and Pete Rosendahl of Somers, IA; and two sisters: Mrs. Robert (Lena) Tjaden, and Mrs. Barger (Cassie) Wilson, both of Rockwell City, IA. He joins in Heaven his parents; brothers, John Rosendahl, and Herman Rosendahl, and two infant twin siblings. Gerd was of German decent, and knew all of the old German Hymns and Christmas carols by heart, as he would thing them in German. The Family of Gerd Rosendahl: Thank-you is not enough to say for all of the acts of kindness and deeds shown to us at our time of sorrow. A Special Thanks to Pastor Geske, and those who provided us with the beautiful music. We wish to thank those who came to the house to serve our family lunch before Gerd's funeral, and the ladies of First Lutheran for serving lunch after the services. Thank-you to those who remembered us with your visits, prayers, cards, and for showing us your Christian Love, since Gerd's illness and his passing on to his Enternal Home.
