| Description | : | Maria Kapš Koce Sterbenz She was born in what is now Stari trg ob Kolpi, Črnomelj, Slovenia, the daughter of Janez Kapš & Marija Kump. In 1848 she married Marko Koce and had one daughter with him. She married George Sterbenz in 1851 and together they had six children. Maria & her children remained in Europe while George went to the US in 1874. Their sons joined him in 1882. Maria and her three younger daughters emigrated from Hamburg to New York aboard the Rhaetia 27 Aug 1884. She died at the home of her daughter, Margaret (Sterbenz) Sterk. |
