Martinez was the wife of the late J.T. Martinez who served as a county judge here for many years. Mrs. Martinez had been a resident of the community for the past 63 years and was one of the people who could be classed as a real pioneer of the area. She was born January 15 1885 at Park View, N.M. Where she spent her childhood and attends school. She was also married there on November 9 1901 to Joseph Teofilo Martinez. The couple moved to Pagosa Springs and this has been the family since that time. Mrs. Martinez was beloved by all who knew her and was an active member of the Catholic Church. She was a member of The Altar Society and the Fatima Society of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. In addition to the countless friends who mourn her passing she is survived by a sister. Of San Diego California Ernest of Pueblo and Kilbert W. Of Albuquerque Daughters surviving are Mrs. Lillian Belarde and Mrs. Helen O'Cana of Pagosa Springs In addition she was precedes n death by one daughter Mrs. Matilda McMillen There is also 23 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren surviving. Funeral services were held on Tuesday of this week from the local Catholic Church with the local Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Peter Rigo officiating. Interment was in the local cemetery.
