GARRISON, Dec. 20 - Mrs. John Meister, a resident of Garrison for 25 years, died at her home here on Tuesday, Dec. 19, after illness of but two days duration. She was taken ill Sunday morning. The funeral services will be held in St. Francis Catholic church, Center township, on Thursday morning, Dec. 21. Interment will be in St. Francis cemetery. Mrs. Meister was aged 67 years, 5 months and 25 days. Her maiden name was Maria Margeta Dubois. She was born June 24, 1849, in Palsbruch, Lotizen, France. She was married to John Meister August 29, 1868, in Peoria, Ill. Twelve children, nine daughters and three sons, were born to Mr. and Mrs. Meister. Two of the sons died at an early age. Mrs. Meister is survived by her husband, 10 children, 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lena Mignotts, of Kansas City. The surviving children are Mrs. Mary Deford, Mrs. Anna Zegers, Mrs. Lizzie Rhodes and Mrs. Zella Zegers of Garrison, Mrs. Lena Helgoth of David City, Mrs. Maggie Selzer of Bellwood, Mrs. Susie Stone of New Mexico, Mrs. Emma Aden of Hemet, Calif., and Miss Caroline Meister and John Meister, Jr., of Garrison. In her 25 years of residence in Garrison, Mrs. Meister gained many warm friends. She was a woman who did many kindly deeds.
