On Oct 1, 1867 (sic), she was married to Joseph Vautrain of Jersey County Ill., to this union six children were born. In 1884 they moved to Edgar, Neb, and two years later they moved to Superior, Nebr., remaining there for twenty-four years and in 1910 moved back to Edgar where she resided until last September when she went home with her daughter to Portland, Oregon, where she departed this life January 22, 1929, age 78 years, 1 month and 13 days. She leaves to mourn her loss one son and two daughters, Lee Vautrain, Superior, Nebr.; Mrs. Addie McDade, Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Jennie Graham, Edgar, Nebr., ten grandchildren and thee sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Bassler, St Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Jennie Brown and Mrs. Emelia Henninger of Edgar, Nebr., besides a host of relatives and friends. Her husband, two sons and one daughter preceded her in death, Chas., Clara and William. She united with the Presbyterian church in 1919 and remained a member at the time of her death. She is not dead, for death can only take away the mortal; breath and life commencing here is but the prelude to its full career and hope and faith the blessed assurance give. We do not live to die, we die to live. The remains were brought back to Superior. Funeral was held from the home of her son at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan 27. Rev Henry officiating.
