Description	:	Maria Worth, daughter of Alexander and Adaline Vermilya Worth of Hudson, New York, was born at Mooresville, Indiana, October 6th, 1830. In 1848 she was married to Robert Little of Plainfield, Indiana, and for 12 years they lived in the old homestead inherited from Judge Little, 19 miles west of Indianapolis. She with her husband and children came to Kansas in May of 1860, the year long known as that of the great drought. For 49 years she lived on the farm which became so dear to her. Read More	Maria Worth, daughter of Alexander and Adaline Vermilya Worth of Hudson, New York, was born at Mooresville, Indiana, October 6th, 1830. In 1848 she was married to Robert Little of Plainfield, Indiana, and for 12 years they lived in the old homestead inherited from Judge Little, 19 miles west of Indianapolis. She with her husband and children came to Kansas in May of 1860, the year long known as that of the great drought. For 49 years she lived on the farm which became so dear to her. By her untiring efforts she aided in building a home in every sense of the word, where her children and grand children loved to meet and visit with her. Many hardships and disappointments were heroically borne in those early days when untiring effort was the price of success. In 1898 Capt. and Mrs. Little celebrated their 50th anniversary, surrounded by their children, grandchildren and one great grandchild. The first break in the family circle occurred when their youngest daughter, Mrs. Phena Askren, died in 1899. In 1904 her husband passed into the great beyond. She remained in the old home made dear by many associations. A woman of unusual intellectual strength and activity, she had reached the advanced age of eighty years with mental faculties unimpaired and still retaining an interest in local and national affairs which made her a citizen of the world, although shut in by physical infirmities. ..... She leaves five children to mourn her loss. Mrs. Isaac Hoover and Mrs. J.A. Nichols of Holton, Lawrence Little of Liberty township, Charles Little of Circleville and Mrs. A. J. Best.......10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A.S. Wolverton Writes of Pioneers in Old Eureka. Maria will be remembered as the dress maker who made dresses for the best families in Jackson and Nemaha counties. Many were the young ladies who served their apprenticeships and learned the art of dress making, and it was an art in the days that I knew Grandma Little. signed A.S. Wolverton
