Davis[married Anna F. Zika]. Obituary Mrs. Maria Jenree died at the residence of G. W. Jenree in Leon, Iowa, after a painful affection of the stomach, Feb. 27, 1906 wife of G.W. Jenree. Her age when death came was 71 years, 8 mo. 24 days. Maria Jane Perry was born in Kentucky April 3, 1834. Her parents moved west to Illinois. Here the deceased continued to live until united in marriage to John E. Davis Sept. 11, 1851. The husband and wife came to Clarke Co., Iowa in 1855, settling near Leslie. They were the parents of fifteen children. Eight have passed away while seven are still living. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. M.J. Roberts of California and Benjamin H. Davis of Pierce Nebraska. Sister Davis embraced a hope in Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of the Vernal Baptist church with her husband about 1857, here her membership continued until her death. She had positive convictions as a Baptist which were such that she could not find a church home except among the people of her choice. Her life was as a shining light to the many friends around her. Her husband died July 7th, 1896. She was again united in marriage to G.W. Jenree of Leon in Sept. 1898, who is left with her dear children to mourn her absence from the home. The funeral services were held In the Baptist church at Lacelle and was largely attended especially by the old friends who knew her so well In the past years of her life. The passage of the truth used as a basis of the sermon was Rev. 14, 13. She new rests from her toil and labor while her work will follow her. The remains was laid to rest in the Lacelle cemetery on the lot selected for the family and to rest until the Lord comes to raise the dead In Christ.
