Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; a sister; her husband, Frank; a daughter, Denise Kinley; a son, Jerry McDonald; three grandchildren, Ellen Stallman, Kathy Reilly and Michael Reilly; and a great-grandson, Joseph Matthew Moine. Marian was born June 20, 1906, in Paris, to Michael and Margaret Smith Morrissey. Her family moved in 1909 to Ryan, where she graduated from high school. She also attended Visitation Academy, Dubuque, and graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, in 1928. On April 1, 1929, she married Frank D. McDonald of Delhi in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ryan. He died May 1, 1971. They farmed together until 1958, when they moved to a small acreage near Ryan. She has been a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1909 and a life member of ACCW.
