Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Marie "Mary" Barbara Nigrin was born Dec. 8, 1906, at Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of Gottleib and Anna (Benisek) Nigrin. The family moved to Omaha, Neb., and then to McClusky. She married Emmanuel Schaeffer on July 13, 1928, in McClusky. They lived and farmed south of McClusky. They moved into McClusky in 1938, and owned and operated Schaeffer's Bar for many years, retiring in 1973. Emanuel died July 30, 1975. Mary continued to live in McClusky. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of United Methodist Church and its women's groups. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens in McClusky. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eloise and Lynn A. Vietz, and Violet and Lawrence Reiswig, all of Bismarck; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Lucille Schaeffer, Hazen; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, John Nigrin; two sisters, Anna Lasher and Louise Roth; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
