Born in 1920, she is survived by her loving husband, Robert Edwin Hablitzel, her six children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. This August would have been Bob and Marie's 60th wedding anniversary. A life-long resident of the Red Bluff area, her life began west of town at Red Bank. Born in 1920, she is survived by her loving husband, Robert Edwin Hablitzel, her six children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. This August would have been Bob and Marie's 60th wedding anniversary. A life-long resident of the Red Bluff area, her life began west of town at Red Bank. Marie was the second oldest of Henry and Julia Eaton's six children. Her early education was in the one-room schoolhouse at Red Bank, where her mother was the teacher. Her father was a farmer. He took on carpentry when the family moved into Red Bluff while the children attended Red Bluff High School. Marie received her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from Chico State College in 1942. Like her mother, Marie went on to become an elementary school teacher a profession that she continued for 32 years. She began teaching in 1942 at Los Molinos Elementary School. In 1947, Bob and Marie married and started their family. She returned to full time teaching in 1960 at Gerber Elementary School where she stayed until 1982. After retiring, she and her daughter, Kim, wrote the eight-book Draw-Write-Now series. The books include a collection of the lessons that Marie created during her years in the classroom. Over one million books have sold and the series has received over seven national awards. Marie's books will continue to be published for many years to come. The Hablitzels were one of the founding families of Community Baptist Church in Antelope, and Marie always taught a children's Sunday School class. Marie also volunteered at Community Christian School. Each week, the first and second grade students anticipated Mrs. Hablitzel's smiling face. Marie had a special way with children, whether they were her students or her own children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Life was simply a little sunnier when Marie was around. It must be noted, that at age 86, Marie enjoyed walking three miles each morning. She simply did not grow old her quiet, positive attitude and loving spirit kept her young. We who loved her are forever grateful for her love and tender care. Marie is survived by her husband, Robert Edwin Hablitzel, and her brothers and sisters, June Cox, Joye Whitten, Jack Eaton, and Duffy Eaton. One brother, Arnold Eaton, preceded her in death. Her children are Robert D. Hablitzel of Sacramento, Anne Hablitzel of Vermont, Steven Hablitzel of Red Bluff, Kimberley Stitzer of Washington, Timothy Hablitzel of Livermore, and Julie Hablitzel of Red Bluff. Her children-in-law are Leona Hablitzel, Rose Hablitzel, Alice Hablitzel, Marylynn Hablitzel, and Randy Stitzer. Her grandchildren are Kindra (Aaron) Garcia, Ryan (Renee) Hablitzel, Krissy Hablitzel, Peter (Juliana) Hablitzel, Michael (Heather) Hablitzel, Ian Johnson, Maryanne Hablitzel, Sam Hablitzel, Michelle Stitzer, and Tyler Stitzer. Her great-grandchildren are Gavin Hablitzel and Abby Hablitzel. A funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 8, at the Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers in Red Bluff.
