Description	:	Mrs. Mary Dorothy Preuss, daughter of Edlef and Margarette (Peetz) Jurgensen, was born January 29, 1889, in Crawford County, Iowa, and died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness on Monday, October 9, 1972 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 10 days. Mary was born and raised on a farm, attended rural schools, was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and had lived in Crawford County all her life. Read More	Mrs. Mary Dorothy Preuss, daughter of Edlef and Margarette (Peetz) Jurgensen, was born January 29, 1889, in Crawford County, Iowa, and died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness on Monday, October 9, 1972 at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 10 days. Mary was born and raised on a farm, attended rural schools, was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and had lived in Crawford County all her life. On January 24, 1912, she was united in marriage to August Preuss of Charter Oak at Charter Oak. They settled on a farm near Ricketts. To this union three children were born. After the death of her husband in 1919, she made her home in Ricketts. She is survived by one daughter Margaret, Mrs. Joe Remmes of Charter Oak, Iowa; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Caroline Grell of Ricketts; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband August, two sons Alfred and Raymond six brothers, Hans, Jurgen, Moritz, Edlef, John and Herman, and one sister Hannah. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 12, at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Ricketts with Rev. Mark F. Broecker officiating. Mrs. Loren Lee served as organist. Interment was made in Morgan Township Cemetery at Schleswig with the following serving as pallbearers: John Bascom, Walter Freidricksen, Earl Hennings, Robert Johannsen, Erwin Voss and Gilbert Voss. Huebner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
