Description	:	ST. ALBANS - Marie E. Hopkins, 69, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 8, at her son's home in Palmyra. Marie was born on May 5, 1945, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Greta (Barnes) Bubar. She attended Hartland Academy and was employed for more than 25 years at Edwards in Pittsfield. She also served as a cook in the local school system. Hopkins, 69, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 8, at her son's home in Palmyra. Marie was born on May 5, 1945, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Greta (Barnes) Bubar. She attended Hartland Academy and was employed for more than 25 years at Edwards in Pittsfield. She also served as a cook in the local school system. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending every holiday with her family. She especially loved celebrating Easter and Christmas. She liked cooking, listening to music and adored dancing. She enjoyed her home on Big Indian and was a true supporter of her grandchildren and cheered them on at their sporting events. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jay Batchelder and wife, Tara, of Palmyra, Laurie Preble and husband Rick, of Palmyra, Kenneth Batchelder and wife Judy, of Hartland, Craig Batchelder, of Palmyra, and Nicole Batchelder and companion Corey Alton, of Burnham; grandchildren, Ben Batchelder and wife Emily, Andrew Batchelder and wife, Courtney, Kara Batchelder, Aaron Preble and wife Carrie, Amy Fair and husband Kasey, Kenneth Batchelder, Jerica Batchelder, Lauren Peirce and husband Andrew, Whitney Batchelder and fiance Dwight Erving, Kylee Alton and Ashley Alton; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tressa Nelson, of Caribou, and Darlene Boyd, of Hartland; sister-in-law, Marleen Bubar; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Stanley "Buzzy" Hopkins; three brothers, Keith Bubar, Ronald "Billy" Bubar and Arnold Bubar; and a special aunt, Doll. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, in Hartland, with the Rev. Tim Curtis officiating. Marie's late husband of many years, Stanley "Buzzy" Hopkins, will be laid to rest beside her. (Morning Sentinel 6/16/2014)
