Description	:	Marie Warner, 91, of rural Clemons, died late Wednesday evening, November 23rd, at her home. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 28th, at the Clemons United Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Clemons Cemetery. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Marie and her family. Born Marie E. Hines on February 20th, 1914, near St. Anthony, Iowa, she was the daughter of Eldon and Ethel (Speas) Hines. She attended school at St. Anthony until moving with her family to a farm near Montezuma on New Years Day of 1930. She graduated from the Barnes City High School in 1932. In August of 1934, she entered nurses training at the Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown for the next year. On August 27th, 1934, she was united in marriage to Ronald Warner at Des Moines. They farmed near Clemons for the next 61 years until his death in April of 1997. As of August, she had resided on the farm 70 years. As a young girl she joined the United Church of Christ in Clemons where she was active in teaching Sunday School, sang in the choir, held offices for the Women's Fellowship and served as Deaconess. She served two years as president of the PTA. She helped start the government hot lunch program and had the lighting in the schools improved. Mrs. Warner was employed for several years at R.H. Donnelley Corporation in Nevada, Iowa both in bindery and clerical. She was also employed at two nursing homes in State Center. When her husband built his new repair shop, she helped as his office manager and inventory clerk. Because of Ronald's health, they spent 14 years in Phoenix and Sun City, Arizona. At 70 years of age, she took classes in oil painting which she enjoyed several hours doing. She truly liked being busy and knitted and crocheted many sweaters and afghans for her family. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Le Ron of rural Clemons, Marlys (Earl) Oscarson of Sun City, AZ., Linda (Bill) Hartwig of Conrad, and Sheryl (John) Nordmark of Penguilly, MN., 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and her only niece Lola (Dallas) Sterk of Grinnell, Iowa. In death she has rejoined her parents, her husband, daughter La Rita Dawes, sister Ruby and three granddaughters.
