She was born in Boone on May 1, 1909 to James and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Lacey. She married William Ryan in Omaha July 3, 1937. She was a 1927 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Boone and received her teaching degree from Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois in 1931. Ryan, 83, of Omaha, Nebraska and formerly of Boone, Iowa, died of complications of a stroke in Omaha on Oct. 27, 1992. She was born in Boone on May 1, 1909 to James and Catherine (Fitzgerald) Lacey. She married William Ryan in Omaha July 3, 1937. She was a 1927 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Boone and received her teaching degree from Rosary College in River Forest, Illinois in 1931. She taught school at Sacred Heart and was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Sacred Heart Alter Society. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by a son, William Jr. and wife Barbara of Wexford Penn; three daughters, Commander Ruth Ryan with the U.S. Navy in Guam, Rosemary Cavalieri of Omaha, and Eileen VanderMeer and husband William of Toms River, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three nieces. A funeral mass was held Oct. 31 at the Church of the Sacred Heart (Boone) with Father James Patterson and Clement Flannery as celebrants. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery (Boone) Schroeder Memorial Chapel at 6th and Marshall, Boone, was in charge of the arrangements.
