Marie, the daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Broeker) Fritz, was born May 14, 1906 in Pierce County, Nebraska. She died March 1, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield. She moved with her family to a farm in Knox County and attended school at District #138. Later she worked as housekeeper for her brothers in the Devil's Nest area. She married Harry Nelson on April 5, 1948. They lived on a farm near Lindy until retiring in 1978, when they moved to Center. She enjoyed a hobby of crocheting and created many afghans and other items and also taught others to crochet. She was confined to a wheelchair for the past several years and had resided at Good Samaritan Center in Bloomfield since May 1992. She is survived by her husband, Harry; two brothers, Henry Fritz and Rudy Fritz and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and one sister.
