Marie Helen Doughan was born May 4, 1903 in Carroll, Iowa to Albert and Catherine (Skalla) Yegge. She moved with her parents to a farm near Wesley where she attended parochial and country school. On January 23, 1923, she was united in marriage to Raymond Doughan at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, Iowa. They bought a farm in the Stilson area where they lived forty years. Read More	Marie Helen Doughan, 97, of Britt passed away Monday, October 9, 2000 at Westview Care Center in Britt. Marie Helen Doughan was born May 4, 1903 in Carroll, Iowa to Albert and Catherine (Skalla) Yegge. She moved with her parents to a farm near Wesley where she attended parochial and country school. On January 23, 1923, she was united in marriage to Raymond Doughan at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley, Iowa. They bought a farm in the Stilson area where they lived forty years. After retiring from farming in 1962, they moved to Britt. Ray passed away April 13, 1976. Marie was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Britt where she belonged to the Rosary Guild. She also belonged to the Silver Stars, Ever Ready Club, Jolly Dozen Club since 1930, Hospital Auxiliary and was County Seal Chairman for the Lung Association for 7 years. Marie enjoyed her flowers, crocheting, cards, dancing and doing for others. Marie is survived by two daughters: Donna and husband, Raymond Nelson of Clear Lake and Shirley Ann Sallade of Bloomington, Illinois; two sons: Gene and wife, Bonnie Doughan of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota and Allan and wife Frances Doughan of Britt and one daughter-in-law Marcella Doughan of Algona; one sister Lucille Townsend and husband, Marvin of Winterset; one brother-in-law L.H. Ludwig and wife, Gwen of St. Petersburg, Florida; also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray in 1976, and 3 children: Charlotte, Larry and Dale; one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren; two sisters Florence and Pauline, three brothers: Leo, Frank, and Albert.
