Description	:	The 1895 Iowa State Census caught his parents, ten children, ages 22 to 5, the last two possibly twins, and a boarder, living together in Des Moines, Boone County, Iowa. The interviewer wrote that the eldest children were born in Clinton County, the rest in Boone, but his parents were immigrants from Switzerland and Germany. He was 11. After marriage, Albert Henry and his wife would tenant farm, seen move to a new place for each census, presumably as they found better land to rent. The moves caused all but the last of their children to be born in varied counties. By their 1915 Iowa Census, they had made their way to Hancock County, at the edge of Wesley, their post office eventually to be at Garner (east of Wesley), aplce where they spent some time. Several of their children would marry local people, with some others returning to the earlier places. They had been in the States for 24 years by then. At the time of immigration (circa 1891), Austria was still an empire, so included other countries. Judging from Kate's maiden name of Skalla, her father may have been from that part of modern Poland once put into the Austrian empire. Staying Catholic was a bit more easily done than in parts of future Poland instead put under the Prussians or Danes, both Lutheran. Sources on names say the name Skalla can also be Czech or Jewish, may refer to coming from a place or type of place. Wiki's automated translation says, in broken English: LESSER POLAND.
