Funeral Services were held on October 4, 1999 in the First Reformed Church in Hull at 10:30 a.m. She was raised in the Hull area. On September 2, 1937, she married Oscar Douma at Hull. They first made their home in Carnes. After World War II, they moved to Hull. A few years later, they began farming at Hull. Mr. Douma passed away in March of 1967 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mrs. Douma then moved into Hull, where she was a nurse's aid at the Pleasant Acres Care Center. She also assisted people in their own homes. In February of 1997, she became a resident of Pleasant Acres. She was a member of the First Reformed Church, where she had been active in a circle. She also belonged to the Wegman-Koele American Legion Post Auxiliary. Marie was an active lady, who especially enjoyed Senior Citizens events. Survivors include her daughter and her husband; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; a brother Clarence Koele, of Hull; a sister, Madeline Rens, of Hull; and a sister-in-law, Min Kolele, of Hull. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dale Eugene Mellema; two brothers, Henry and Bert Koele; and a sister, Jennie Heileger. -Obituary from Oolman Funeral Home
