Her death occurred at 10:50 Thursday, November 24. The cause of her death was attributed to a heart attack. The maiden name of Mrs. Eden was Maria Magdalena Scheer. She was born April 11, 1878 at Remsburg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany, and was the fourth child of C.H. Scheer and his wife, Ida (Kuehl)Scheer. The family emigrated to the United States in 1884 when Maria was six years of age and settled near Center Junction. On January 31, 1895, the subject of this sketch was married to Carl Eden by the late Rev. C. Mardorf. Eight children were born to this union, of which two preceded their mother in death in infancy. Their entire married life was spent on the farm with the exception of the last three years when they retired to live in Amber. In addition to her husband Mr. Eden is survived by the following CHILDREN: Henry Eden, Wyoming; Sara, Mrs. Henry Wehling, Anamosa; Mary, Mrs. William Hilligardt, Williamsburg; Ida, Mrs. Vernon Ray, Monticello; Carl A. Eden, and Selina, Mrs. Mark Cross, Amber; ten grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mark Hamann and Mrs. John Rohlf, Davenport. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran church for Mrs. Eden last Sunday afternoon and burial was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
