She was born April 7, 1907, the daughter of William and Molly Corber Langston, in the Bolton Community, southeast of Valley Falls. She was the fifth of their six children. Mrs. Brown graduated from Bolton Grade School and from Valley Falls High School in 1927. She married Edward H. Brown June 1, 1927, at Oskaloosa. He died Jan. 7, 1982. A daughter, Betty Ruth Brown Smith, died Nov 27, 1991. She and her husband operated a dairy farm northwest of Valley Falls from 1927 to 1955. After suffering serious injuries in a car accident in 1955, they moved to Valley Falls. Mrs. Brown was a nurse's aide at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, for 18 years. She attended the United Methodist Church, Valley Falls. She is survived by a son, Donald L. "Jack" Brown, Victorville, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Valley Falls Cemetery. Family and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Mercer Funeral Home, Valley Falls.
