Rossi, pioneer resident of Calistoga, and mother of Mrs. Philo M. Grant of St. Helena, passed away on Friday, February 18th, in a Vallejo hospital where she had been taken a few days before for treatment. Although Mrs. Rossi had not been in good health for the past twelve years, suffering from a heart ailment, her death was the result of an acute intestinal obstruction suddenly suffered. Deceased was a native of Italy, and had she lived until next May would have been 72 years old. She came to this country when 19 years of age, and after her arrival in California was married to John B. Rossi. For more than twenty years they lived in Like county, where Mr. Rossi was employed in the mines. In 1912 Mr. Rossi purchased a grocery store in Calistoga which he conducted for about ten years. He passed away in 1921, and Mrs. Rossi continued to make her home in the valley town, in recent years with her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Sims. Many years ago Mrs. Rossi resided in St Helena. Mrs. Rossi was devoted to her family and home, and was a member of the Catholic church. Surviving are seven daughters: Pearl Sims, Jean Taylor, Norma Rossi, Helen Coltrin, Louise Valent, Isabel Shields and Ramona Grant. There are two granddaughters, Jeanne Parker and Patricia Grant. The funeral was held Monday, February 19th, from Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Calistoga, and interment was in the St. Helena Catholic cemetery.
