Marilyn Joan Rivers was born October 7, 1934 in Newton, Iowa to Mary Etta (Logan) and Merlo Dallas Hanke. She attended and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. On March 6, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald R. Rivers in Milan, Ill., and moved to Plano, Ill. Marilyn worked for Plano Molding and was also a homemaker. Read More	Marilyn Rivers 75, of Creston, died Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Greater Regional Hospital in Creston. Marilyn Joan Rivers was born October 7, 1934 in Newton, Iowa to Mary Etta (Logan) and Merlo Dallas Hanke. She attended and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. On March 6, 1954 she was united in marriage to Donald R. Rivers in Milan, Ill., and moved to Plano, Ill. Marilyn worked for Plano Molding and was also a homemaker. In 1970 they moved to Lake Havasu City, Ariz. where they lived until 1977, when they moved to Thayer, Iowa. Marilyn went to work at Furnace Electric (now Siemans) in Osceola, where she worked 18 years. After Don's death in 1988 she moved to Creston and worked at Wal-Mart for 7 years, retiring in 2004. Marilyn was a member of Crest Baptist Church in Creston. Survivors include her daughter: Sandy (Rivers) Dorothy of Waukesha WI., her son: Jim Rivers (fiancé Brenda Smith) of Indianola, Ia.; step-son: Russell (wife Pat) Rivers of Indianola; step-daughter: Violet (husband Jim) Hayes of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and two sisters: Lila White of Creston and Beverly Dodd of New Port Richey, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, her sister Shirley "Vyrlee" Britt, and one brother: Darrell Wayne, her granddaughter: Nicole Rivers and son in-law: Terry Dorothy.
