Mathias, 70, of Saint Charles, Illinois, formerly of Tipton, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care facility in Naperville, Illinois, of ovarian cancer. A Celebration of Life graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, with Pastor Kerri Sandusky officiating. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. A light luncheon will be served following the graveside services at the Tipton City Park in Tipton. All who plan to attend the services and luncheon are asked to wear a mask and exercise social distancing within groups. Marilyn Kay Lamp was born March 27, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Mabel (Laucamp) Lamp. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1968. She married Larry Allen Mathias on December 20, 1969, in Tipton. They moved to Saint Charles, Illinois in 1974 to pursue better employment opportunities. They later divorced. She was first employed with Saint Charles Bank’s Trust department, then was employed with the Pier 1 Distribution Center, where she was the Administrative Assistant and head of their Human Resources department for 25 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the Saint Charles Moose Lodge. She enjoyed trips to be with friends in Wisconsin, playing the nickel slots and traveling the country on the back of a motorcycle through 20 states and Canada. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Kasia) Mathias of Cortland, IL, and Andrew (Amy) Mathias of Yorkville, IL; three grandchildren, Kallista and Amelia Mathias and Adrian Lauzon; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Margaret Christianson of Anthem, AZ, Mildred Manatrey of Sterling, IL, Elaine Holden of Surprise, AZ, and Patricia Harvey of Sunland, CA; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, caretaker and former husband, Larry Mathias of Saint Charles, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, Chet Christianson and Arlyn Holden and one nephew, Barton Holden. Fry Funeral Home
