Read More	Marilyn Chisholm, 97, of San Diego, CA, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021, in San Diego, CA. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2021, at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton. Reverend Vern Olson will officiate. Marilyn Chisholm was born Marilyn Louise Russell to parents Harry and Alma in Fullerton, Nebraska on March 24, 1924. She had one brother, Dr. Harry W. Russel of Hawaii. Known to family and friends as Marilou Russell, she grew up on the family farm and graduated from Fullerton High School. After earning a degree in fine arts from the University of Nebraska, she became a rural school teacher before moving to California. During WWII, she worked at Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego. Following the war, she returned to school teaching and married Henry Chisholm. After raising three children, she worked as a recreational therapist, where she was able to indulge her artistic talents, and later as a substitute school teacher before retiring in 1994. Marilyn Chisholm most enjoyed talking with old friends and meeting new ones. She would often call childhood friends and family to catch up on the latest news. She could be a tireless negotiator, but usually, her midwestern hospitality was evident and never seemed phony. She did not flinch from adventure when an opportunity presented itself nor did she shy away from getting involved. She was active in her church - the choir, UM Women, and the community outreach activities. She enjoyed participating in the NAIC investors club and was also active in the California Sierra Club and AAUW, among others. She was very proud of her three children and seven grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Bruce and Robert Chisholm of San Diego, CA and Margaret Brandon of Sunnyvale, CA and her grandchildren, Robert, Gregory, Monica, Karen and James Chisholm and Rebecca and Daniel Brandon.
