Marilyn was born on February 12, 1929, in Corning, IA, to Frederick Dowling and Bessie Mae (Smith) McClelland. She had attended Simpson College in Indianola, IA. Marilyn married Joseph Norris Benbow and their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Mary Ellen. Marilyn was formerly employed with Dahl's Grocery Store in Des Moines for a few years. Most of her life, she was a homemaker and farmwife on their farm north of Madrid. Marilyn was a member of the former Church of God Church in Madrid. One of her many talents shined while she played the piano, either by reading music or simply by ear. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary E. Charter and her husband, David of Woodward; two granddaughters, Ariel Charter and Micki Charter both of Woodward; and one step-grandson, Scott Toms of Boone.
