Marilyn joined a brother Robert. She attended country school and graduated from Burke High School in 1954. Read More	Submitted by Mary Johnston (48504987) Marilyn Yvonne Baxa was born January 17, 1936 at Burke, South Dakota to William and Laverna (Glick) Tietgen and she died October 3, 2020 at the Avera Gregory Healthcare Center in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 84 years. Marilyn joined a brother Robert. She attended country school and graduated from Burke High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Bernard Baxa on May 14, 1954 and to this union six children were born. Marilyn cooked at the St. Charles School for two years and then as an aide at the Burke Hospital for a few years. It was then that they purchased the pool hall - Bernie’s Inn - in Herrick in 1973 and continued to operate it until her health failed. She entered the Butte Nursing Home and later the Gregory Nursing Home where she resided until her death. Marilyn loved sports, her dogs, gardening and her flowers, her family and her ‘second family’ the “Bernie’s Inn Gang”. The light of her life were her grandkids. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bernie; her sister-in-law, Ruby and her brother-in-law Duane. Marilyn is survived by her brother, Robert; her children: Janet (Steve) Bailey, Dan (Cheryl) Baxa, John (Linda) Baxa, Julie (Bruce) Otto; James (Sue) Baxa, and Jolene (Mark) Ward; her grandchildren: Jason, Darcy, Joel, Jordan, Dana, Chelsa, Mandy, Brandon, Jennifer, Ben, Billie Jo, Danielle, Jeff, Jesse, Johnna; her great-grandchildren: Jonah, Peyton, Libby, Hunter, Jorgan, Dailey, Jamison, Jeston, Parker, Jye; Kaleb, Alivia, Wesley, Jase, Sadie, Dakota, Hallie, Makayla, Kaylee, Briggs, Etta Lyn, Jacie, Ava, Taetum, Bridger, Mya, Grace, Owen, Elise, Jeven and Ryan. Public visitation for Marilyn Baxa, age 84, of Herrick, SD will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke.
