Een treurig ongeluk had plaats ten huize van A . Overweg. Terwijl zijn 17 jarige zoon, Marinus, Woensdagavond een paard zou optuigen om nog gauw even wat aardappels van het land te halen, kreeg bij eensklaps van het dier, dat anders nooit sloeg, een klap tegen zijn buik. De slag was zoo ernstig aangekomen, dat hij reeds twee dagen later aan de gevolgen overleed.

De begrafenis had Maandag namiddag plaats van uit de Chr. Ger. kerk onder leiding van Ds. De Pree en Strutter.
