Description	:	Marion Cloud was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, on March 16, 1828, died in Chicago, Illinois, April 15, 1899. The funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Earlville yesterday afternoon. His youth and early manhood was passed on his father's farm and in a mill where he learned the trade of a millwright. He first came to Iowa in 1848, being then in his twentieth year, and built the mill near Colesburg afterwards known as the 'Baily Mill". Read More	Marion Cloud was born in Greene county, Pennsylvania, on March 16, 1828, died in Chicago, Illinois, April 15, 1899. The funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Earlville yesterday afternoon. His youth and early manhood was passed on his father's farm and in a mill where he learned the trade of a millwright. He first came to Iowa in 1848, being then in his twentieth year, and built the mill near Colesburg afterwards known as the 'Baily Mill". He then returned to Pennsylvania and remained there two years when he again returned to this state and was in charge of the Bailey Mill, for four years. In 1852 he married Miss Jane Malvin, of Colony township, this county, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Malvin. Two years after their marriage they moved to Pennsylvania and after a residence there of four years they decided to make this state their permanent home and in 1858 returned and he again took charge of the "Bailey Mill", and two years later they located on a farm in Colony township where they resided until their removal to Earlville, seven or eight years ago, where he has ever since been engaged in the mercantile business. His wife and their ten children survive him. Mr. Cloud had been ill for several months, and on the 7th inst. he went to Chicago, accompanied by Dr. Swinburne, and had an operation performed at a hospital there, by a specialist, which hastened his death. He was an active, intelligent and good business man, very enterprising and public spirited, a good citizen, and a kind and affectionate husband and father.
