Description	:	Marion Harrison George, age 71, a resident of Uniontown, Kansas, died early Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kansas. He was born September 24, 1944, in Ft. Scott, the son of Leslie Edward George and Viola Pauline Buntain George. Marion graduated from the Uniontown High School with the Class of 1962. Read More	Marion Harrison George, age 71, a resident of Uniontown, Kansas, died early Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Mercy Hospital in Ft. Scott, Kansas. He was born September 24, 1944, in Ft. Scott, the son of Leslie Edward George and Viola Pauline Buntain George. Marion graduated from the Uniontown High School with the Class of 1962. In earlier years, he was employed by Key Work Clothes. While in Ft. Scott, he worked for Leon Culbertson Construction Company and served as foreman during the construction of the Scott View Apartments. He later moved to Colorado and then to Wyoming. He continued to work in construction and served as Superintendent on building projects throughout the United States. He was first married to Marilyn Maxwell. They later divorced. He married Dixie King on October 22, 2001. Marion loved to work; even while on “vacation” he often helped others with building projects. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Dixie, of the home; two sons, Gary Wayne George and wife, Renee, of Castle Rock, Colorado and Brandon Joseph “B.J.” George and wife, Taryn, of Portland, Oregon and a daughter, Beth Ann Burtis, and husband, Larry, of Sheridan, Wyoming; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; six brothers, Raymond Eugene “Skeet” George and wife, Carol, of Redfield, Kansas, Leslie David “Dee” George and wife, Barbara, Arthur Clare “Sal” George, John Allen “Cocklebur” George and wife, Mindy, Lawrence Alfred “Bugs” George and wife, Mary Ellen and Joseph Robert “Joe” George and wife, Loretta, all of Uniontown; and two sisters, Leanna Jane Chisolm and husband, Dave, of Wichita, Kansas and Jean Elizabeth Andrews and husband, Joe, of Gas, Kansas. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Peggy. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter. Following cremation, Rev. Marty DeWitt will conduct a memorial service at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 24th at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Uniontown. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel.
