She was born October 28, 1917, near Plains, Kansas, the daughter of Cuba “Hap” Harrison and Mary Etta Curl Buntain. She met Leslie E. George on a blind date and they were married August 21, 1940 in Uniontown, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1987. She was a homemaker, a member of the Helping Hand Club of Uniontown and enjoyed playing cards on Thursdays with many of her friends. She was active in the Uniontown Senior Citizens, and Sisters Club which included Les’ sisters and sister-in-laws. She enjoyed dancing with the Senior Swingers at Buck Run on Monday nights and spent Friday nights at the Scottview Center in Fort Scott with friends, picking, singing and dancing. She took many senior citizens trips with the Goodwill Tours. Above all else, Pauline enjoyed being with her family and having family gatherings at her home in Uniontown. The kids have many fond memories of yearly camping trips to Colorado and other western states as well as monthly community meetings at the Turkey Creek school house; stopping by the house and finding her playing her guitar and singing; making home-made donuts on cold winter days, the Helping Hand Club float at the Old Settlers Parade, the watermelon feeds for Les’ birthday, feeding harvest crews, and the By George Band which included daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Survivors include seven sons and their wives: Raymond “Skeet” and Carol George of Redfield, Kansas; David and Barbara George of Fort Scott; Marion and Dixie George of Milledgeville, Georgia; Clare and Janice George; John and Bonnie George; Lawrence “Bugs” and Mary Ellen George all of Uniontown, Kansas; Joe and Loretta George of Girard, Kansas two daughters and their husbands: Janie and Dave Chisholm of Wichita, Kansas; Jean and Joe Andrews of Gas, Kansas; 33 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Freddie Buntain, and Gene Buntain; one sister, Irene Goff; one granddaughter, Kimberly Carol George and one great-granddaughter, Rachel Bailey George. Rev. Deane Endicott and Rev. Marty Dewitt will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003, at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Uniontown. Burial will be in the Uniontown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Septmeber 17, 2003, at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
