Lyons and Eunice Ireland, was born on a farm near Republic, Kansas on August 6, 1927. He moved to Superior in 1928 where he attended the Superior Public Schools. Marion served his country in the U.S. Marines. Moving to Hastings in 1950, and to Aurora in 1965, and in 1970 moving to Harlan County, Marion was the operator and cafe owner of the Center Cafe of Republican City. He was married to Betty Isaacson on May 1, 1945. Marion was preceded in death by his father, Marion A. Lyons; a son, Gary Lee and a brother, Loren Delbert. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Eunice Lyons of Nelson; his widow, Betty of Republican City; a son, Lindell of Norton, Kansas; five daughters, Linda (Mrs. David Waldron) of Omaha, Gwen (Mrs. O'Neil Sweeney Jr.) of Aurora, Vicki (Mrs. Ed Sutherland) of Denver, Colorado and Sandra and Pam of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Theda Stolley of Glenvil, Mrs. Jack Smith of Republic, Kansas and Mrs. Dennis Arnold of Conconully, Washington; four brothers, Darrell of Silverton, Washington, Vynn of Dewey, Illinois, Neil of Elmer City, Washington and Roy of Superior and four grandchildren. Marion passed away on October 29, 1973 at the Harlan County Hospital in Alma at the age of 46 years, 2 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 1, 1973 at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Republican City with Pastor Harold Onwiler officiating. Interment was in the Alma Cemetery.
